The introduction of E Mart and Costco brought a significant economic effect. Consumers were driven towards a large retail markets and small marketplaces owners suffered from this effect.
Large retailers carry products from many other countries and quality of products are considered better than products in marketplaces. However, I find a larger affection and louder laugh in these marketplaces.
There has been a numerous demonstration by small marketplaces owners against large retailers. Most of the time, they were ignored and these people are still suffering from the economic shift that has occurred.

Wow, E Mart looks like a huge store. That is too bad that once a superstore comes in it takes a lot of the local economy with it and deprives those who were so dependent on it before it emerged. I believe this is similar to Walmart in America in that we often choose the convenience of a one-stop-shop over helping our very neighbors and local businesses.
ReplyDeleteYes, E Mart is pretty similar to Wal-Mart in USA, except it has multiple stories. It is sad to watch small marketplaces go out of business and people lose their jobs.
